Deadman's is only a 1/4 mile from the shore. It's a nice spot though.

Yea ONLY a short 1/4 mile. Thats a long swim...

Only, 4-1/2 football fields.

I can't even walk that far without a break. :rofl3:

That makes it seen farther then what it actually is......

OK. For informational purposes only...

You can get to deadman's underwater by dropping down at the end of the visible reef and following it around to the west (Reef on your right) until you hit a rocky outcrop (Best way I know how to describe it). At that point you go south and you will hit it every time. It takes about 15min to get there if you know what your doing. I don't suggest it if you are new or not so good on air.

With that method you can see one side of the reef before having to turn around. The last time I went I was able to do an hour long dive on an 80 and make it back to shore with no surface swim.

Like I said, this is just FYI, I don't recommend it for everyone.

Have Fun!!

Thanks for the info Randy. Sorry to bother you but I have a few more questions and you seem to know. How deep is Deadman's? How big is the actual reef structure at Deadman's? Is it only sand from the first reef out to Deadman's. Is the viz and fish life significantly better at Deadman's?

Last time I was at Crescent Bay (Jan 2) we did an 88 minute dive, and with my 130 I still had over 1200 psi left. That's what got me thinking about the possibility of going out and back from Deadman's underwater. But as you say I think I need someone who has done this before to take me the first time.

Laguna is fast becoming my favorite shore diving spot so I'm really interested to start exploring it's reefs more.

hey guys, I'm a little new to this board, I have not actually met anyone from here. But i'm interested in coming to dive with you guys. I live near LAX but I'm willing to drive to Laguna. My name is Andrew, I'm an easy going, fish out of water. I'll probably bring an 80. My email is andrew.m @ mednor.net. but I read the board pretty often. Mind if i tag along?

Well, since the conditions are going to be so great, I've talked my wife into joining me and actually diving.

The catch is I'll be going to Heisler, two reasons; the easiest walk down to the water & full facilities.

Maybe I'll bump into some of you getting refills at LSS.
