The article states that she received medical treatment for two months after the event. I wonder what kind of treatment.

I wonder what the response would be like if the "recipient/victim" is your daughter/wife?
Tolerance?

The article in the OP said she as "traumatised and received medical treatment . . .". Seems most likely that it wasn't treatment for physical damage. That said, as divers we already know that articles are almost never fully correct and/or complete.

Brock Turner got 6 months for rape... (What is way to short). But this IS harsh...

Brock Turner is a horrible comparison, he was a shitebag with parents who had lots of money and knew the right people in the right places.
Sentences for crimes like these should be harsh because they are not okay in any way.

Don't understand using a case like Brock Turner as a benchmark for the punishment. That's clear even to someone who chose the name "Degenerate" for themselves.

1. I think people are hung up on how the act was described. Consider that even beating the heck out of someone comes down to X punches and X slaps. Doesn't sound like much when you read but they're still bloody and in the hospital.

2. The real measurement is would such punishment actually deter people from doing the crime. Maybe if we had such punishment, we would have less such crimes, because what we are doing now for multiple crimes, up to and including murder, sure doesn't deter many people judging by the news and our prison population. Our current FREAKIN' "PRESIDENT" HIMSELF DESCRIBES ON TAPE doing essentially even worse behavior than the article describes.

That's all.

Then he’d be the one needing medical treatment for two months as if I have a daughter, she’s learning MMA

Good idea, but this lady was underwater and felt dependent on the assaulting instructor for life.

I get that, but I'm an instructor and my daughter would be self sufficient underwater. When it comes to recreational diving, she'd be completely self-reliant. Even if she were not, once they get back on the boat, she'd settle the manner. My hopes is that after whooping the guy's ass, she'd put him in a choke hold so he has a nice nap on the way back to the marina.

This kind of behavior is not okay.

Having confidence to do the right thing helps. Not having witnesses for the assault would be a deterrent, but as long as she doesn't kill or cripple, he'd be embarrassed enough about being whipped by a girl to keep quiet.
