Hi - i've got a line on some 'dived only one weekend' gear - in particular a Mares Ice
reg - octo and Puck computer - i'm VERY new to the sport (and family) - but hooked - i live near montreal QC, Canada - and although i originally felt i'd be diving south and warm climates - i've also discovered that fresh water diving -(although COLD) is far more interesting than i gave it credit for - that said - back to the query at hand - is anyone using the Mares ICE (i believe it's proton Ice extreme- or something to that effect) reg - does anyone have any feedback on this or other Mares packages/products ? what level of performance can i expect from the name brand ?
thanks in advance for your comments .
cheers
marc

I use the warm water version of the proton regulator, and it seems as good as any. Mares fins are also popular, and get good remarks. I find the buckle system on those fins unusual, but most others really like that feature.

Mares is one of the brands that allows online sales. Before you buy used, you may wish to shop around on the web a bit, particularly Scubatoys.com. Equipment is seasonal, and now is a good time to buy.

Have fun with it,

Stu.
