These are backplate roller adjustments. It is similar to the Pterodactyl system except you can interchange them with different backplates. Can't wait to set it up...

I guess it does several things for you: It allows the shoulder straps to be loose when you're getting out of the rig, but permits you to tighten everything down and snug it up when wearing it. It would also make it much easier to lend your rig to someone else (although the D-rings probably wouldn't be optimally sited).

The cost is that, if your waist buckle comes undone, your whole rig is then completely unstable.

Having had that happen to me twice, I'll live with the slots in the backplate.

I am sure it will be a good alternative for the particular implication though.

This is my exact concern. The ordinary harness design doesn't affect a holding of the tank(s) no matter what happens on the buckle, but this new design doesn't look like.

To OP, please let us know if we are missing something on this design.
