So better to purchase tanks in our country (Europe for me) and rent if we dive aboard (USA,Mexico for example)

Stupid question, but which type of tanks do we use in Asia, well exotic places?

most places in the world will have aluminum 11L for rentals. In the US we call them AL80's

If you want a different cylinder than an Al80 with yoke you should contact them in advance. Often they have a few oddballs, like steels, DIN, or al100s that they can reserve for you. DIN should be more common, but the adapters often jam.

Also is it possible to use a Faber steel bottle in Europe?

Thanks

Provided it is manufactured to an approved European standard and marked as such then yes, it is perfectly possible to use a Faber cylinder in Europe.

The problem is EN1920 which covers the filling of cylinders in the workplace. Only cylinders manufactured to an approved European specification can be filled by an employee within the EU (there are caveats about cylinders on ships/boats etc but they're not really a major concern in this thread).

This is not to say that EU standards are any better or worse than any other manufacturing standard, it is just what the regulations say. It is possible for cylinders to comply with DOT and EU standards and be marked for both. Coltri-Sub for example sell Catalina aluminium cylinders in the EU that have markings for both.

steel tanks can be bought online or from LDS pretty much everywhere in Europe.
One of the common online shops people use is Deepstop in Germany, they also sell hot galvanized tanks Scubatanks & Acc - Deepstop GmbH . it is most common for steel tanks to have the normal thin galvanization and then the paint job over it, the hot galvanization finish is special order in most places as far as I know. all steel tanks are galvanized to some point under the paint (otherwise they would rust crazy fast if having even a small imperfection on paint) but some of them have thicker zinc layer than others. )

here the local dive shops have for example Faber and Vitkovice steel tanks. some places also sell "Dir Zone" branded tanks, I don't know who originally manufactures them (ECS maybe? ).
All my Fabers are bought used, they tend to be heavier and more expensive than other manufacturers tanks here.

if you look one Finnish shop's page you can get an idea what kind of steel tanks are commonly found in a shop here Single Tanks | Varuste.net England

For aluminium they sell at least Luxfer and MES branded tanks here. normally people only use aluminium as stage/deco bottles and Luxfer seems to be more popular I think, the price difference is pretty small. for example the Finnish shop's aluminium tanks in stock: Deco and stage cylinders | Varuste.net England

For twinsets, ECS (Euro cylinders) are quite common in the UK, they sell also some which have a flat bottom so they are steel cylinders which can stand on their own without a boot
