Is criticism of Moderators a bannable offense?

The term Nazi was used for quite awhile, in polite society, rather lightly, from what I noticed. Then it rather suddenly (and maybe rightly so) became the latest PC faux pas to use it.--many were caught "off guard".

Man, I'm glad I'm not a mod... I get too much abuse from others as it is!

I'm not talking about JeffG - Who BTW isn't so happy about his vacation either, but he was at least warned regarding the Viagra thread

Please keep in mind when reading the following it is solely my based on my personal opinions.
The recent firings were a necessary shot in the arm for this board IMO. Since then, we have had many of the mods come out of what seemed to be hiding. The mentality that seemed to pervade was one of “hide from the members – it will make you less of a target. Divulge nothing of yourselves for fear of repercussions”. It was a very sad state of being for the board and I can’t imagine it was fun for any of the MODs.
Having mods waiting with bated breathe for the moment to “drop a brick on someone’s head,” just should not be. It just causes even more tensions and is worthless in the promotion of this board. The secret police mentality is quite disconcerting to many. Jumping out and screaming "gothcha" (esentially)... well :ne_nau: It just isn't good.
I personally needed some help moderating recently for some trips I have been planning with other SB’ers. I took me all day to get things done. Why? Seems others were too involved in unnecessary drama.
I echo what Andy is saying here:

a lot of the time this comes from the Mod's tone and choice of words
one thing the Mods could do to avoid this perception is to make sure they are professional and neutral in their official postings.
there is no need to use unnecessary verbal force or quasi-threats.”
This place needs to be perceived as an open, educational, fun, and resourceful place. Too many are becoming alienated to this board and it seems no one is noticing. Getting back into the swing of focusing on the positive is a necessity. Arbitrarily doing things is no way to conduct oneself as a mod. Not in this day and age.
Please remember, many look to the mods as leaders and positive role models. On the other side of that, we must keep in mind they do deserve our respect but we deserve theirs as well. All of us know these flippant things will get "the pack" screaming, so why continue to do them? No one likes these threads - heck we just had one.
Of course, I will add the usual...this does not apply to all. Not by any means. Some, I really like a whole lot. Others I like but don't believe them a good moderator.

let's face it...it is probably more fun to not be a mod. (unless you live to drop bricks)
well..the list had common denominators, except for two, which is a mystery. But...
they are still here so I am happy.
...not a good time to torment the mods...we are still equilibrating.

I was asked by a good friend not to jump on the mod bashing band wagon, and I won't. I have some very good friends that I dive with who are mods on this board and I think the large majority of mods do an amazing job a large majority of the time. I know they have been quite fair and patient with me. I do want to state for the record, however that this issue in question is asinine. There was no warning, and the "offensive" thread remained long after the "offendee" did. I do believe that one or two mods may take themselves a little too serious. There should be a logical process that leads to a banning, not a "sorry I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and you're on vacation" surprise. If a process is followed, the person in question can take steps to correct whatever has transpired. The result of which is that neither the mod nor the offendee, will be surprised. The "okay you're in time out" kindergarten-like approach should be avoided. We are adults here.

i agree with this wholeheartedly. i don't know the circusmtances of this banning, so i don't know what process was followed, so i am not saying that it was a bad process
i am just saying, that as a suggestion for the Mods for future action, this is a great suggestion if it isn't already implemented
and if it is already implemented, it is not getting communicated to the members, which is causing frustration
