I did see a heavy handed, snide warning post from a Mod recently, like last week. I was kind of shocked and I would have reported it had I known it was possible. I think it was the one that has been mentioned here.

I too was banned a long time ago along with some others at the same time, without warning. We were admittedly getting out of hand but one single warning would have shut us all down. There is one Mod here that does come into an area I frequent and he uses the simple word "Ahem" when things start to get rowdy and that is all it takes. Another Mod who was in that forum was let go but he was one of the best here I thought. Both of these incidents did not involve fighting and slinging insults, just going a little too far with having fun.

There certainly are certain case where outright threats and insults have to be dealt with severely but why not try the "Ahem" method first.

I have been treated very fairly by almost all the Mods that have been on the board during the time I have been here and I think it is important not to generalize.

i think that's exactly what you should do from now on

I'm glad you started this thread howarde. Some constructive ideas have come out of it.

I should add that in those incidents, we should have been moderated but not banned.

I will Andy.

So what's up? No bans that I can remember for some time....and now at least three since the 'reorganization'.

Is this the new direction we were told about?

someone told someone who told me that there was to be a more warm & fuzzy mod direction.... maybe being shown the door is the fuzzy part :eyebrow:

i have no idea why someone would agree to be a mod... sounds like alot of hard work for very little appreciation... and Kim, though not a mod anymore i will still give you a hug
