I finally got around to setting up my stage regulator for an upcoming trip. I'm using a new Deep6 regulator and was surprised to see the IP at 175 from the factory. A quick adjustment and some cycling found the final IP at 140. Does anybody else have an experience with a hog or Deepsix regulator starting with an IP this high?

Mine came with th IP set at 155 which I dropped to 135. Not sure what the spec is meant to be but thought 155 too high for cold water.

maybe the IP setting is thought to increase performance ?

you'll see the ip move around a bit until the hp seat is cycled, but but it shouldn't have started at 175. 155 I could see which should drop to 140-145 ish.

I can give you plenty of examples where "trained" or "certified" technitions have provided me with sub standard or poorly done work. I usually do a ton of research before initiating any DIY project. And when I do send work out to a "professional" I often find that I know as much or more about the subject than the hiree. Not meant to be a dig... I just tend to specialize into specific brands/models and try my best to learn it through. Most professionals (in any field) have to have much more broad knowledge of more brands/types.
Just last week, another poster here was (apparently) given incorrect information by a LDS tech re a Poseidon 1st stage.
I assume the OP's reg was assembled (or set up) by a "trained" person from Deep 6 and came out of the box with an IP of 175 (reportedly).
I do agree that caution is in order when giving or receiving advice on these topics but please insert a little moderation.

You might want to PM Chris (cerich) and ask him what the factory setting is supposed to be. If it is supposed to be high (I doubt that, but just saying . . .), then an understanding of why would be helpful. But, if it is supposed to be in the 'usual and customary' range, say 130-145, and yours came from the factory at 175, and grf88's came at 155, Chris may want to know about that. Yes, as tbone points out there may be some settling over time with seating, but new regs should be sufficiently cycled before shipping to customers.
