Well, if you haven't already, I would change all the locks to your house in case a spare house key was kept with the spare car keys.

If anyone breaks into your house, I would imagine that it is during the day when you guys are at work (especially if they've got a spare key). Much of the neighborhood is older, see if any of your neighbors are retirees that stay home all day. Ask them to generally keep an eye on your place while you're not home.

As a general security measure not necessarily related to the theft of your cars - many of the houses in Newtown have jalousie windows - make sure you've got the clip attached so someone can't slide the louvers out to access the house.

Update: We put both cars on KSSK (92.3) and someone saw the Mustang in Waimanalo at the LL Drive In (Kalauee St?)

Of course the cops supposedly went there and didn't see it.

Yes we have those types of windows, could you elaborate on the clip--I am not sure what they look like (or where to get'em if we dont have'em).

Thanks

They are small metal clips - maybe 1/2 inch wide. They slide onto the edges of the panes at either end by the metal frame holding the louvers in place - I'm not exactly sure how (I didn't install the ones at my house) but they prevent the louvers being pulled out from the outside.

They should be pretty easy to find, since these type windows are pretty common. Try City Mill down the street and tell them you want the clips for the jalousie windows. Home Depot or Loewe's might carry them, but I would try City Mill first because they are more "local" store.

Update: They found the Honda. 3 streets from where I live, apparently has been sitting there for 3 days. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

That's great news, but also sad news...took the police three days to find a car that was 3 blocks away :(

Sweet! Good to hear.

Sorry to hear about this Sherman... at least you got the Honda back.

The cop was wrong, actually only 1 civilian is allowed to legally carry concealed (SP?). Sorry, I don't have google spell check at work :( ... and he is the Police Department armourer.

Feel free to protect your home, but remember Hawaii is a criminal's rights state.
