This is a great idea-- put it on the phone..,

And the 4 puffs of air is a good idea.. I admit that while I look at my pressure gauge plenty underwater, I don't double check before entry. I will now.

Saved my tail in Cancun. Dive 2 was a hot drop to hit a wreck in current. New boat hand was being helpful. I took the puffs looking at SPG Needle swung way down. Reg breathed fine but It would have stopped part way down. Mr helpful had just cracked it open. Needle should not move when you take your puffs.

The feet up visualization sounds like a good idea.

(and I'll look for an OCD buddy)
I agree as well. Even though I know it's all in the car ready to don at the site, I still do the feet up thing.

+1 feet up. Part of my ritual

Also you will learn what leads to screw ups. In my case it is suddenly getting an instabuddy and switching into DM/Guide mode. Have learned that is a distracted time for me so after chatting with new buddy. Go back and retreat into my focus zone and recheck.

Agree here too. I have once in a while forgot to do something while gearing up due to conversing with buddies, freinds, bystanders. Must focus -- even having done everything hundreds of times. Maybe yet another reason I got into so much solo diving.

Travel lighter.

We have a rule in our family that you have to hump your own gear. This has significantly cut down the amount of "stuff" that gets carried by everyone. You would be surprised how much people carry that they don't really need. Someone on here gave me some advice a year ago concerning what to pack to carry for a liveaboard. "Set out everything you want to pack and then divide it by half". When you are heading to warm places to dive you really don't "NEED" that much stuff.

All valves turn the same way.

Apparently not. I've been explaining this concept to my buddy, and told her that the righty tighty / lefty loosy thing applies to virtually all valves not just scuba (of course there are some exceptions, but it's a great general rule). Just after reiterating this point, we checked into a hotel for a dive trip. We ended up staying in two different rooms during the trip and none of the shower valves in either room turned the same way. I don't even know how you find a shower valves that opens right. I ended up scalding myself trying to figure out why the stupid water wouldn't turn off! That did not help reinforce my point!

So you mean when the knob is literally facing you... so it's perpendicular to you?
Another way to think of it is looking at the end of the knob, clockwise closes. The right tighty, lefty loosey often confuses people not mechanically inclined IMO.
