I recently picked up some Faber FX120's off CL and had them hydro'd. Apparently the guy had to break away the white finish in order to do his stamping, which to me seems like could pose a nice place for external rust to start. Anything you guys could recommend to apply over that area (like an epoxy or something) that would prevent further chipping and rusting of the finish? Thanks.

Clean it up, apply a cold galvanize finish then a white top coat for looks.

Thought you were messing with me until I remembered the Rustoleum stuff. Thanks!

I wouldn't do that, this is life support! :wink1:

Mine have those paint chips where the new stamp was placed. I have noticed NO rusting inthe area. You could put on a clear coat on the stamp if concerned.

I was thinking of an epoxy over it after some zinc spray. I don't care about the aesthetics of it at all, just don't want to make it easy for rust to form underneath the finish.

None of my Fabers rust except in the actual stamp itself. All of mine are on their second or third hydro. It isn't really an issue.

I prefer to buy the ugliest nail polish in Walgreens and put about 6 coats over the stamp and then paint a circle around it...
