I have mine set up similar now bit with it clipping to the right chest strap rather than tucking it underneath. But I did not think about running it under my left armpit. Do you have go go under or over the left chest strap?

I run mine under the left armpit to a short bungee clipped to my left shoulder D ring, cheap, simple and predictable.

Some will suggest ti is bad practice to clip things off across the chest since it can complicate getting you out of your gear in an emergency.

Quick question though, is it comfortable diving with stuff in the pockets?

It depends on the BC and how much weight you have in ditchable pockets. In some cases the pockets, weight and bladder will compete for the same space.

From reading these boards I understand what may work for one may not for another. Still, it is good for me to even get ideas to try out.

Bingo! :D

I use a simple retractor for my gauges/computer and a velcro clip for my Octo that I bought at ScubaToys. I have attached images below...

Ahhh...... shriek wrap!!! Almost as good as duck tape and a hammer!!!!!

Once every few dive's I move stuff, still. Like stated above what kind of dive, what water etc. If I'm diving with old friends that have dove alot with me I don't need a slate. Others it's a good idea to include one on that dive. Do I need to bring a finger spool? Will this dive be on a wreck? Tunnels are caverns on this dive? Night are major time overcast, what about a light? See what I'm saying here is with experience you'll know what works best when.

OK, my LDS had a pool night last night so I got to get a tanks worth of time in with my gear. I like how the console felt running under my left arm and attaching to the right BC harness. I do wonder though if, somewhere out there, there is a forearm mounted console. Analog and not a AI dive computer. I feel it would be even better to have it there rather than on my chest.

On a good side note I also spent the time working on my buoyancy and trim. Wow, what a difference using a back inflate BC versus a jacket one my OW class used. I was actually able to hover and played around with taking slightly deeper breaths to raise myself a bit and shallower ones to lower myself. Does wonders for my confidence in this skill areas.

It really all depends on what works for you and comfortable and your BC set up.
You might have to dive a few diff configs to find what works.

On my Pro QD BC, I had more pocket space so it was nice, but bulky.
I just got a Knighthawk this week though to replace my QD.
My setup.....

Main knife on leg
Smaller knife will be on the right of the BC. I will prob put grommets on to be like the Seaquest
Octo hooked on my upper right D ring
Sausage snapped to my upper right D ring, but strapped into my upper right velcro strap
Console slung across my righ side currently and with a retractor to my upper Left D ring
My small light is tie wrapped to my inflator hose. Takes some getting used to, but works very well.

I dont keep my big light with me on most dives, so no real place for that.

OK, I am green as the grass to diving so I am hoping some of you with more experience can help me out. I purchased the list of gear recommended for my advance course. But now I am trying to find out how to get it all attached/on my BC. I feel as if I have a million little things clipped on and dangling.

I got the rubber connection that my octopus connects to on the right strap ring. I also have the half of the clip my analog depth gauge and SPG clips to so it crosses across my body to the right strap ring also. The BC I got (Seaquest Balance) is nice enough to have a place I can attach my small knife to. But it seems I also need to find space for the safety sausage, whistle, slate, and two dive lights.

There is a pocket on the right hand side but I am not sure if stuffing everything in there is the best idea. Any help?

This will sound like a broken record from me but........... if you really want to be streamlined you'll want to take a look at a HOG ( Hogarthian ) rig.

Don't take anything you don't need for the dive.
Keep things in pockets, bungee your second so it's always tucked under your chin.
Consider dumping the console and get wrist mount instrumentation.

Straps, buckles and all sorts of **** clipped off and dangling will all create drag.

Anything dangling is at risk of getting ripped off when diving from a boat or at risk of getting stuck on a wreck sometime, It's easy to get tangled in line, too.

Like RotanMan says, KISS.
The more stuff you carry, the more stuff needs to be stuffed or clipped off.

I use a bolt snap and short length of bungee cord for my SPG/Computer (ProPlus2) and my Octo is also clipped off with a quick release plastic buckle. If I take them slates, reel, whistle or SMB are either in a pocket or clipped out of the way but where I can reach them. Most of the time I dive with a video camera plus lights so it is tough if I have a bunch of junk dangling around.
