How much can your gas consumption increase before you notice it?

I'll concurr with the comments on stress and new dives. I'll also add that if you are still seeing the increased rate in subsequent dives, you may want to look at your equipment. Your primary reg may require adjustment, you may have slow leak in a hose or in a o-ring, etc.

I would not be able to notice a 30% variance in the water. I measure the scr for the entire dive every single dive I do. I do this when I'm at home logging the dive into my book. That would be the earliest I would notice the increased consumption.
