I just have 2 x Faber HP100, bought them from my LDS a few weeks ago. I'm pretty happy with them for a day of local shore diving.

And the best days you shall have
Magnificent!

0. Am I doing this wrong if I can't even convince myself that owning one tank has value? Those things are expensive and you still have to pay to get them filled and for maintenance.

My numbers have changed some. Just sold 2xHP80s.

4 x LP85
4 x LP50
4 x HP80
2 x AL40

The 85s and 50s are recent additions. Until this spring, I had 8 x HP80.

You are in the majority. I think the last data I heard at DEMA was something like 80% of ALL certified divers don't own even 1 tank.

For me personally, I need to do 6 dives per year on each individual tank I own (5) to out weigh the cost / hassle / benefit versus renting a nitrox tank. I do between 120 - 140 local dives per year and always rent if I travel. Except my 6ft pony, that travels in my suitcase with a whip every trip and every dive...

Renting makes perfect sense for most divers.

21 tanks. They all have a purpose.

2- sets of lp85 doubles steel
1- set hp100 doubles steel
1-set hp120 doubles steel
3- hp100’s single- steel
2-lp72-single-steel
3- al40 deco tanks
1-al30 deco tank
2- al80 deco tanks
2- al80 tanks- single- never use
