i just got a tank from a friend and he siad the hydro was less than 5 years....but how do i know when a tank was hydro'd last? is there a sticker or way i could know for sure?

It's stamped on the neck. If it's older, there may be a few there.

Look for a number like "12x05" where the "x" is the symbol for the facility that did the test. In the example I provided, it would mean it was last hydro'd in Dec. 05 - not particularly hard to decipher.

Remembering having to hunt down the last one when I was in a dive shop, I now "XX" out any old dates and put a box around the current hydro date (using a Sharpie pen) so the dive shop doesn't have to search for the last hydro. I have a couple of steel 72's that are close to 30 years old, so I'm trying to make their life easier.

Hope that this helped.
