One thing I didn't see mentioned regarding the diving is that even if things do get stirred up with the hurricane, you can expect things to return to normal fairly quickly because Coz is swept by currents constantly. So if the reefs are covered with some sand or if vis is reduced somewhat, it'll clear out relatively quickly. So go ahead and go - I'd expect that conditions will improve over the course of the time you're there.

Have a ball and honestly - I know that meals are included at SCC, but do take a night out and go to Espesias for dinner one night...it's not expensive and the food and service are NOT to miss - get the special if it sounds even remotely good to you :)...

If you're not flying in until Saturday or Sunday...DON't cancel yet...please!

This thing could still miss us! Even after Emily, we were back on our feet in a week and vis improved everyday.

Our flight is scheduled for Saturday, leaving St. Louis at 7:30 AM arriving in Coz by 1:20 PM....

I don't know Christi, the forcasts aren't looking real promising..... I'll keep praying for now...

By Saturday, it will be gone from our area and headed towards Florida.

It is expected to pass through the channel midday Friday.

If you do cancel prematurely, the airline will charge you a fee for canceling or changing your ticket. Wait to see if the airline alters your flights. If they do, then there won't be a charge to change. If they don't, you are still good to go and I think you should still go.

Yea, I'm def. still in "wait and see" mode...

my vote is bring lots of cash.... most likely most ppl on the island are taking out cash early for the hurricane, it may be a possibility that they wont cash ur checks... the island is pretty safe, IMO, so cash is the best in my opinion... also bring lots of small bills... for taxis and everything else...

ggunn:
You'll be fine. Every day the predicted storm track moves farther east (that puts Cozumel on the "dry" side of the storm), and it's supposed to pass out of the region on Friday. You may get a little residual weather in the first day or so, but I'll wager that in the main you'll be fine. Heck, more than fine; you'll be on Cozumel!

Of course, hurricanes being the cantankerous beasties that they are, they can and will change their minds. Seems this one has, too. Unfortunately, this morning's weather statements put Cozumel back on the bullseye. Heavy sigh.
