Ok, this tool is likely far beyond reasonable contingency planning but I hear about discussed in passing every few months:
Drinking air off a bare tank valve, feathering the valve open each breath.
I've done a few hours bottom time like this (just tank no reg) in my younger days. Choked and CESA'd once, it's really unpleasant to not get a full breath once choking and coughing begins.
Curious if it's something you've practiced and more curiously why. Seems desperate, but in some situations a few extra breathes makes all the difference. (Recalled the story of a diver sipping air bubbles off the tunnel roof while cave diving and surviving as a result)
Any techniques that worked better than the straight valve? Cupping a hand perhaps? I practice occasionally still with redundancy on hand.
Regards,
Cameron
