Actually Matt, this is very interesting, because my best friend and I just bought one each so I'm very curious as to how it works out for you otherwise and if perhaps at somepoint, should you come up with another first stage and move it to the other side if that will help. Keep me posted even if its by pm.

Just a thought, Matt, but there had been some talk in a Vytec thread a few weeks/months ago about attaching the transmitter via a 6 inch section of HP hose. The point of this was to protect it from getting dinged in wrecks, etc. But in your case, if you were to do that, you could maybe ziptie it to another hose and it might transmit to your wrist unit better. The only hitch in this plan is that you would probably have to custom order the short length of HP hose with the proper screw-in fittings on either end, as this isn't a standard type of hose, AFAIK. If memory serves, there's a company/shop in California that makes custom hoses.

did you clean off the battery contacts well?? A little oxidation on the contacts and you would never know you had a new battery. Have you tried putting the transmitter on the other HP outlet(other side)? Is the transmitter on the same side as you wear your gauge? good luck.

.. just came back from the LDS that I bought it from (err.. i bought it via ebay but the shop is only 10 miles from me
The owner is going to send the comp back to the place he got it from for recheck, hopefully they will be able to do something about the range.
I checked the contacts and they looked pretty clean, no trace of anything out of usual.
I am diving tommorow so the comp is not going to be fixed yet, but next week i am dropping it off and will see what happens...
In general, it seems that this is just my unit doing this stuff, the "normal" 750GT should get much better range of signal... My luck , i guess

PS. no, as far as i know i have no metal plate in my head... but maybe my parents didn't tell me something

I am constantly meeting people on dive boats with these now discontinued Aeris and Oceanic wireless computers that are or have had various problems with them.

this "little toy" makes sure my brain won't get rotten and i keep on using tables.. how ?

got sent back for repairs on warranty..
waiting .. waiting... 3 weeks passed by
got i back, new case, new serial number.. they've replaced it but since the computer and transmitter were not "linked" (ie. transmitter's serial number not set in the computer) i knew right away that they've never even tested it, just shipped next two units off the shelve.
i ask the lds owner to test it on a tank right in the shop and sure enough it works even worse than before (range of about 6 inches). Still i get "go diving with it and come back if it doesn't work"... so ok, it doesn't work
to avoid annoying people on saturday dive i just gave up and disabled the transmitter and dove with the computer without air integration feature.
came back to LDS today (monday) and here it goes again back for repairs.
If it wasn't for the fact that i didn't spend much on this unit and that it is "repaired" on warranty i would probably really pis*** right now.. but i am not... my good ol' timex watch seems to be a much more reliable tool for diving

I have heard from people using hoseless computers that they occasionally get reception problems.
From what I have heard, new models, such as the Vytec, work better. They also cost around $800 -- so here you go

uhm.. define "occasionally"
cause this thing (last time i had it in my hands before going back to LDS) had like 6 inches reception range in AIR (ie. tested on a tank in LDS)
that means that to avoid constant beeping i should be diving with my hand behind by head to keep it less than 6 inches fromt he transmitter

if the beeping is the only thing that is bothering you just turn them off you can do it in the set up menu of the computer. i have dove a 750 gt for about a year and have not ever had a loss of signal in the water i have even done some penetration dives with the 750gt and have not had a problem period
