I'll be in HK again for 2 days in January and have a few items I'm looking for (Regulator, Octo, watch & always some accessories). I know the price points I'm looking to beat and am looking to bargain.

For those who have bargained for dive gear in HK (locals or visitors), would I have better luck using USD or HKD?

Thanks for your experiences.

HK dollars only.
Green Back is easily converted to HK$ in HK but not everyone gives good exchange rate. So shop round. Bank is usually the worst.
Some shops will add couple of % if you are using plastic. Enquire first.
Good luck.

Always hk only no doubtly.
