There is nothing wrong with a little physical punishment, be it an animal or a child. My dog Rocky was a Lhaso Apso..stubborn little prick too. Well when we first got him he would take off on us if we left the back gate open..he just booked. Well after a couple beatings with a wiffle ball bat that dog stayed in the yard...he would get out of the backyard, but would not leave the property..little bastard knew better.

I did a couple things growing up that caused my mom to whup my booty and looking back I deserved it too...

This time out method is a bunch of BS..your kid got a smart mouth, you best check that fool. It's is probably your fault in how you are raising the little shi!t to begin with. Maybe you need to take parenting classes or something.....maybe its he father of the kid....thats if you know who the father is.

Stuff has to be shown who's boss and I can't think of a better way then giving it a good shaking or a swift beating...good words, Jep..

I mean - a Lhasa Apso named "Rocky"?

Hmm, if O-ring displays any more of these unfortunate proclivities, we'll never get him auctioned off...

Vise-Grips would have probably helped in the rearing of some folks...

Don't be afraid to go on that date with him .... just take along a wiffle bat since i think O-ring is mirroring his desire to be beat.

Just a guess. I could be wrong.

I can't stand it when Jep does this kind of crap...someone should do something...

I'm dead serious. Again going back to dog training, I am a huge believer in mirroring what the dog's mom and litter mates would do.

If the dog is biting you "in play" which seems to be what is happening, it isn't trying to be aggressive, it just doesn't realize that biting hurts. Next time it does it, give it a little bite on it's paw. Just hard enough for a reaction. You could also give it a really low growl at the same time. As soon as you have done this, and the dog shows signs of submission (averting eyes etc.) tell them "good dog", pat them and "accept them back into the pack."

I am a huge believer in mirroring dog body language and vocalizations, but you also have to remember that as you are acting as the Alpha dog, you also must immediately accept them back into the pack.

Someone mentioned earlier the taking them down by the neck thing. I will only do this after repeated misbehaviour (same thing again and again in rapid succession). I will give them a really low growl and let them see who's boss.

I don't believe in hitting dogs or punishing them for something I have not caught them doing. I have come home to find all sorts of stuff destroyed. Hey, my fault, I shouldn't have left it out. The dog doesn't realize why I'm mad three hours after it happened. Consequences must be fair, consistent and immediate. I also don't believe in choke collars, if the dog pulls on leash, we don't move. When he relaxes, we move again.

Just so everyone knows, I have a 95 lb Chocolate Lab who is the world's biggest suck, 100% pure muscle. He has two cats who love him.

if well flattened and slung with a snap bolt to your left chest and waist D rings.

On the serious side. Take a soda can and put 12-15 pennies in the can and Duct tape over the opening. Keep the can close at hand and try to have it in your hand during the activities when the dog likes to nip. Just as the dog makes mouth contact....vigorously rattle the can or throw it on the floor at the dog's feet. Just as the dog is startled and stops the offending action ....give a firm NO command. A few seconds later when the dog is not acting inappropriately give praise. It will only take a few times for the behavior to change.
