Yes, it sounds like it uses check valves and separate intake and exhaust tubes.

Where are the hoses? Does the buyer supply his/her own? If it's intended primarily for neophyte snorkelers who plan nothing more than surface swimming to peer down at the coral reefs, such design will place the snorkel as far above the water as possible. So, I see it as "no more" silly than SASSY/A or whatever it's called.

Hi Guys,

I am the developer. I like the feedback, good or bad. This design was ouroriginal proof of concept that we had at the DEMA show to get feedback. Our new design is much more sophisticated. You are right that the double tubed design probably isnt what a diver wants, or even needs, but it will be the most comfortable and efficient design on the market, and it eliminates the comfort and adjustment issues associated with the common snorkel. The production version is available in three initial versions. The headmount system with the attachment for your hands free dive light or camera (without the snorkel) or one of two versions of the snorkel without the light or camera attachment (to be purchased seperatly) The headmount makes having a headmount light or camera easier because you dont need a seperate strap system to do so. The headmount replaces the strap on the mask. Although difficult to envision, our proprietary strap system uses nylon cord instead of silicone straps to attach the mask. the strap can be easily adjusted to an infinant degree even when the mask is on simply by adjusting the cord stops ( the same system thats used on the hood of your winter coats) not only is it a very comfortable design, but it will be the most easily adjustable system on the market, and now your strap will be multifunctional. The light or camera can be slid off the front of the system while diving. this allows you to have a hand held light when needed and snap it back on your head when you want to . For divers, We have a single tubed snorkel. the snorkel uses the same dry top technology as our double tubed design, but the difference is that the soft silicone tube with its attached small mouthpiece can be easily pulled off the base of the snorkel and wadded up and stowed in your BC during the dive. The snorkel top and dry top stays on the top of your head (you wont know its even there, and it wont be flopping around on the side of your mask). Another benefit is that when you surface you dont need to fiddle around with your mask strap any more to reattach the snorkel. You simply reach up, plug the snorkel back in and your ready to go (all with the benefits of having a dry top and purge mouthpiece. All of the components are easily detachable so you can modify the system to your diving needs. If you like underwater video, Veecam will go to 1000ft and can be attached to our system. your right. Half of it is missing. All the engineering is done, but due to difficulties assembling the parts in cad in a manner that would make them make sense, we posted the most unique and important parts. We hope to have videos of our prototypes (explaination and use) on the website to in a week or so. I can understand that the concept is still difficult to visualize at this point.

What's the point of posting a photo of half the unit?

Until we can see the entire unit, any speculation about how good or how bad this might be is premature.

Your right.

The purpose of posting images is to generate awareness of the products, not to validate how good or bad they are. That is reserved for 3d party users such as yourself only after testing the product. We are entering production phase, and when the units become available we want as many people to know about them as possible. Also, we will be updating the website as product videos and updated pictures come available, and we want people to know where to look to get updates.

I think once we have a better visual of How the product its fitted and how it is used is the best way to get an understanding but obviously we've already had tons of posts about this product and people who were not aware of it yesterday are now aware of it today. This is how products get known, even though we are not sure how it works we will all probably check the link in a few days or so to see the video and thats when we all go "Ooooh I see" and then tell friends etc etc and the product gets notice.....
ANYWAYS thats how products get out there.. I do like the idea of being able to mount lights, and video cameras... but need to wait and see how the rest of it works
:)

A few marketing ideas:

Make it in chrome plated brass and sell it to the vintage snorkeling crowd.

Make one of the hoses 7' long and the other 2' feet long and sell it to the SIR crowd.

Make it in every color in the rainbow and sell it to the warm water/vacation snorkeler crowd. (This one might actually work)

Curious to see what the final product looks like.
