I have taken it down below 130... The device is a cylinder with 2 caps so flooding it might be tough.... I am not sure of it's rated depth though. You could always email the company. They are pretty responsive!

I own the hawkeye 2200. It does what it is supposed to do - tell you the depth. It bounces off kelp so you can find bull kelp too (scan around and look for sudden increase). Not particularly as good as a plotting sonar/fishfinder (can't see bottom structure). I use it for ab diving to figure out how deep I am or kayak/inflatable diving. I used it underwater a few times but it's annoying as it floats up when clipped and adds a lot of drag.

I have a few rubber bands on my shoulder strap I use to secure it in place when I am diving. I hardly notice it's even there. I'm not sure what you'd do with a jacket style BC, but this works perfectly with the BP/Wing.

Why exactly do you carry it with you while diving? I guess if you're shore diving you want to carry all your stuff with you but I'm usually diving off a kayak or inflatable boat so just leave it onboard. Sure it's waterproof to 200ft but what else do you do with it other than finding depth from the surface? I scanned in front of me to see how good the viz was at times but it's only moderately...

I mainly use it to find parts of the canyon I want to dive. One day I was looking for the Way North Wall and was returning to the peninsula. We were in open water at a depth of 80 feet, unable to see any land mass. After a few minutes of swimming I used the depth finder to ping the wall and confirmed our direction to the wall which was 130 feet ahead of us. I have only used it like this a few times.
