I've been wrestling with a gear difficulty for a while now, and I'd like some input about potential remedies. I currently use a 24 in. hose on my primary, but I can't say it's truly comfortable. It feels as if my head is being torqued a bit to the left with tension from the hose being the culprit. I've tried various changes to my tank mounting, moving up, down, and side to side (by turning the tank a few degrees). I can't say that any of that has helped appreciably. I know I've seen this problem here on the boards before, but my search didn't produce anything I needed. Does anyone have suggestions?
I know I'll probably hear that a solution might be to adopt the "five foot hose" remedy, and that's fine, but my question will remain "will that truly solve the problem?" I've not used that configuration before, and I haven't studied the routing enough to be able to form an opinion.
Anything you can provide will be appreciated. I'm headed to an shop on Monday with my reg.

Keep the 24" hose, for your BU reg. Get a 84" hose for your primary. Get some training / mentoring in the use of a 7 ft hose. My guess is once you learn how to use it and deploy it and restow it your current hose issues will just fade away.

Have you tried donning you rig and checking things in a mirror. It's not the same as the dive posture but it may be telling.

Sort of as mentioned... Is the hose torquing your head or are you twisting your head to help keep a wimpy soft mouthpiece in your mouth? My wife likes her small silicone mouthpiece but I find it takes too much attention to keep in place.

This can certainly be resolved without going to a long hose configuration. While that it's a bad option it's like blowing up the shed so you can rebuild it when it just needed a coat of paint.

What are you running for a regulator/mouthpiece?

I just started using the 5' hose - 5' was not enough! Had to re-order a 5 1/2' hose and I love this setup - like having a reg with no hose, can't feel any pull. I am 6' 160lbs and 5' was too short. Think you would like the long hose/necklaced secondary arrangement.

I know this might sound elementary, but have you tried using a different LP port on your first stage. I had the same problem when I bought my flathead. It took me about 4 dives before I realized that it wasn't an equipment confidence issue. I switched the ports my secondaries are on, and I have never again had an issue.
Just a suggestion. I hope this helps.

I hoped a 5' hose would solve this problem, but it didn't, really. Then I added a swivel, and one of those long-tab mouthpieces, and no more problem. I think it was the extra few inches of length from the swivel than the actual "swivel-ness" of it that made the difference. It was so close, but not quite. Unfortunately, it's real hard to figure out the right hose length without actually using it, and then you've already bought it.

I used to have that problem, in fact it was so bad that I kept having to replace the mouthpiece on my reg (I'd have to bite down on it pretty hard or else it didn't feel secure). I solved the problem by switching to Miflex hoses, they're super flexible.

x2... Miflex hoses are awesome!

I second this suggestion. My wife had the same issue of the hose pulling the reg out of her mouth. We switched the hose one port to the rear and that changed the bend in the hose, making it much more comfortable for her. She has an Oceanic CDX5, hopefully your reg allows similar adjustment.
