A recent Economist article featured the pirate problems in the Southeaster Asia. An inset map showed thaat piracy has taken place anywhere from the Celebes Sea to the West Coast off India, which are popular liveaboard destinations.

Has there been a documented piracy against a liveaboard boat?

If youre worried about pirates, just bring your spear and a couple of good knives. When they board your boat, stay below decks and dont come out until they are gone.

If they come down for you, fight them tooth and nail, with spear and knives, to the death, and they will run. Pirates are cowards who prey upon the meek. As are all hostage takers.

Don't let the thought ruin your trip.
