Reaching out to the experts here. I have a set of Halcyon regs that I came across and and looking to sell. I know that Halcyon regs are made by Scubapro and I think I've heard that there are SP equivalents to what ever Halcyon offeres. I'm pretty sure these regs were made in 2018. Does anybody know what the SP equivalent 1st and 2nd are?

Mk25/g250V
3 weeks ago I just serviced the same set with mk20/25 service kit and a g250v/260 kit
They look in very good shape btw

Then how do you know they work
And more importantly, why does their SP equivalence matter? Unless it’s for servicing sake

I'm needing to have these serviced and I'm trying to determine their value
If you wanna “max out” your value, and as you say they were never in water:

The 1st stage would probably be in the clear and might not need any service — you’ll have to check (or more of ask someone who knows what they’re doing to do that) IP and confirming it’s in spec
But Orings do degrade with storage/not moving/varying weather and storage conditions… so might be a good idea to have it all changed anyways

The 2nd stages:
If they were stored with the seat saver on (the purge button pushed in and twisted) then the same applies, and maybe some min tuning is needed
If not, they will (if not also orings like above) need LP seats to be changed — unlike HP seats

If you’re/know a (regulator) DIY person, the whole thing (service) can go as low as 10 bucks (just after market LP seats for 2nd stages)

And depending on failures of other components (and/or things being out of spec).. well service kit prices + labor

Now that all of that is out of the way, their SP equivalence means nothing actually since the Halcyon branding (for some reason that escapes me — but has to do with status amd GUE) makes them go for more than their SP counterparts (that are no longer available on the “new” market”)

For reference, I got a hold of 3x1st stages and 3x2nd stages (of that generation/cosmetic style) at almost new state at 900eur, and serviced them myself (one 1st stage needed a full service due to IP creep, all 2nds just got LP seats) for 45 (30 for a 1st service kit, 15 for new seconds seats) — technically the 1st needed a new piston (that I restored) that would have cost 70eur, no labor obviously

Another FYI: brand new (with new (ugly imo) cosmetics— same exact internals) kit , in box, like this from big H runs at ~950eur now, so making it worth it for the buyers as well is a factor
YMMV, wildly

That looks like a great set up. I would put a LP inflator hose on (remove the red plug and put the hose in that port) and connect it to a tank with an IP gauge on the inflator hose. I bet it works perfectly. If you’re going to sell it, I wouldn’t have it serviced, because it’s not uncommon for a buyer to want to have that done anyways. Assuming this set has never been used or serviced and has simply sat around for 6 years, as a buyer that would be more appealing to me than if some unknown person worked on it.

I have SP regs that sit a lot longer than 6 years and work fine with maybe a slight adjustment. Regarding the o-rings degrading in storage, that’s unlikely, unless it’s been stored in a terrible environment. In fact, if you bought new service kits, it’s very possible that the seats and o-rings in the kits are just as old as the ones in the regulators currently. You just need to test it.

If you’re going to sell it, I wouldn’t have it serviced
It wasn’t for me from the start — a friend wanted them so I sourced it for him and also “practiced” my restoration skills before I give it over (he lives a continent away, so till I see him I made the best out of the situation; he’s also my instructor so when I dive with him I wamt him as safe as possible)
You’re absolutely right about the service kits also being old

To OP:
Hopefully it all goes alright and nothing needs change
I would rather test IP overnight (with tank valve closed after pressurization) just to be sure
The one I rebuilt initially seemed good at 140psi, but fuether test got it to 160, and overnight to 0 (full leak)

[I don’t wanna assume how familiar or not you are with all of that, so I’m mentioning everything I can remember just to be on the safe side]

Wow - thanks for all the details guys. I think it makes sense to do the overnight IP test and hold off on the full service. I have a friend who's a tech and I can offer to have the service done before shipping.
Interesting to hear about the premium value. I figured they would sell for the same price as the SP equivalents.
