I have enough to make 1 pair. Jeff: if you want one, or both, I'll give you dibs since you asked first... If you don't mind waiting and ordering some with others, etc... I'll make 'em for shellbird before the dive sat.

Yea, there's plenty looking for 'em, and I'm just trying to be lazy anyway...

So yea... skip me and I'll deal with 'em when I get around to making up my mind [like that'll ever happen!].

so i signed up for this trip (spectre, you did get my PM confirming me, right?) with you all and most of you probably have no idea who i am. this is due to my chronic "lurk often, post rarely" habit, mostly because i'm not really supposed to post to boards while at work.

anyway, i thought since i know something about most of you (from the lurking), i thought i'd let you know about me so i'm not a complete stranger on the 15th:

i've recently moved to CT (same city as scuba-sass) and also recently been certified. haven't done any dives since then, but i am going to florida next week for a partial-diving vacation so i hope to get some more experience then. i just blinked and realized that summer is rapidly ending and i haven't done any local diving ;-0

even though i only have 4 dives, i'm pretty sure i'm a WWW but i just can't wait for the few dive vacations i can take a year... its too long between dives. so i'm gonna suck it up (and probably buy a decent wetsuit too) and get into the local stuff.

can't wait to meet you all and go diving,

chris

Yep... your committed. Enjoy your trip to FLA, and thanks for popping in an introducing yourself!

If there is one thing we need to add to our charter is breaking those warm-water w********* tendancies! :)

Run a search for the Candy-A** Divers clubs. You are not alone.

Personally, my favorite time to shore dive is in the middle of the Winter. Parking and vis are great.

I live about 20min. away from you and Scubasass.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Rax, I have SCUBAPRO fins, I too am looking to upgrade but maybe with the springstrap system I can get some more use out of them. From the pics of the device it looks like it will work no problem.

Can't wait to see you all Saturday! For those of you who get to dive during the week, these little get aways are something special for us landlubbers.

since i am now a confessed CAD, can anyone tell me what water temps we can expect for this dive (so i know how many sticks of butter i need to eat to bulk up)?

what sort of exposure protection is everyone usually wearing? i wore a rented 7 mil two piece and was freezing in 52 F... i think it was a crummy suit though. i'm thinking about buying my own so i can stay warm and enjoy more local dives.

Hood and gloves with that 7mm?

I've not been out that way, but I would assume a 7 mm two piece is definately the way to go. You say you were cold with 52F, but what depth was that? 52F @ 40 fsw is way different than 52F @ 100 fsw [suit compression].

It's likely that what you ended up with was a suit that was a little too big, so every time you moved, you flushed cold water in. Another issue with cold water diving is the amount of energy it takes to heat the water up when you first enter. A lot of people swear by pouring warm water into your suit before entry into the water. I've found by the time I'm getting in the water I'm ready for some cold water to cool me down, and occasionally have resorted to ice cubes in my suit as I gear up... [but I wear sandals in the winter, so I'm not an example to follow].

I highly recommend you shop around for a suit that fits you well... It'll make a huge difference!
