My biggest issue in the water is with fins, I really have a problem donning them in the water (photo op #1) and taking them off is kinda difficult as well (photo op #2). I have very small feet and my straps are an issue and the way my booties fit tightly in the fin make them hard to get my feet out. STRESS. I am looking to find new fins that fit small feet better - I am on a quest, but until then, have those cameras handy. :) "cheese"

Shell, I was having a hard time with my fin straps too, until I chucked them and put on my own spring straps. There's a good thread about making them in the FINS section.

They're much more comfortable, and make it a snap to don or remove them.

You might want to give them a try.

I mentioned them to my LDS owner (threw a party at his house Saturday night, nice jacuzzi and pool), he didn't know anything about them.

Not suprised... it's hard to buy something you may have to make yourself. Still, since they're available for several brands of fins, I wonder why he's never heard of them. Let me guess... they don't offer much in the way of DIR/technical gear at that shop, right?

Maybe you should point him to the boards!

I tried to point him to SCUBAboard but lack of interest in computers -

I have had a problem with my fins not wanting to come off after a dive.

I drilled a few more holes in the toe/sole area to release the suction that builds up.

Worked well.

shellbird once bubbled...

photo op 1 won't happen... you put on your fins while on the boat... then giantstride, etc. into the water. Plus, just stick your feet into them and ask somebody to adjust the straps.

Your boots fit VERY tight into the fins? Don't know how to help with that one... other than larger fins (larger pocket, that is). Even spring straps won't help in that situation... but they definitely make it easier as far as 'strap adjusment'.

Take a look at Msilvia's or mine.... made mine in about 15-20 minutes per fin (not counting the 1 1/2 hours the first one took). Total cost around 20.00.

I'm not flexible enough to easily get my fins off... gave myself a charliehorse last week... easiest way to get to your fins is put your leg into a "figure 4" repeat for other fin.

I'll visit the fin thread and get the info on the spring-straps, I too lack flexibility and am prone to fin donning/removal charlie-horses
