Can we start nailing down logistics, I have LONG ride there and need to plan so I am not completely wiped out either getting there or home.

What is the estimated time of departure, can you get directions for us Spectre being as you seem to have ended up being the organizer. Being my very first boat dive, can you offer some pointers and let me know what to expect. We will all be doing dinner or something afterward?

MSYLVIA and Spectre, you were there for my first official shore dive as an newly certified diver and now you will be there for my first official boat dive!!! I am so excited!

shellbird once bubbled...
What is the estimated time of departure

Boat leaves at 1:00.

can you get directions for us

I've not been there before, so the best I can offer is The directions off his site. Perhaps someone else that has dove off his boat can fill in any confusing parts.

Being my very first boat dive, can you offer some pointers and let me know what to expect.

It varies from boat to boat... and not being on his boat before I can't _really_ comment. Many boats will have benches you can sit on where you have your gear all rigged up behind you. So you can sit down and get your gear on. Some boats you'll have to move your gear to a platform that you can sit on and strap up. You'll probably giant stride in.

The hardest part is getting out, as you'll most likely be climbing the ladder with all your gear. If you are nervous about that, just tell the crew. You can always remove stuff before climbing. Remove your weight belt and hand it to the crew, then you can remove your BC and hand it to the crew as well, and then climb up with just your fins and yourself.

The most important thing is to say something... if your nervous or worried or uncomfortable about anything, please say something to me or the others. I promise I won't pick on you until _well_ after the problem is resolved!

We will all be doing dinner or something afterward?

Thanks Jeff you are such a peach.

Is the boat a decent size, is it going to be rocking like crazy putting on gear, is seasickness likely? Do you take dramamine?

It'll be small enough to get the motion of the ocean, so if you're prone to seasickness take precautions. Also, remind me to. I usually have some Bonine in my first aid kit.

When re-boarding, there'll probably be a ladder. When your turn comes to exit, it's often helpful to deflate your BC once you're on the ladder... if the seas are rough at all, and you're positively bouyant, you might get slammed around a bit.

Remember not to leave your tank upright if it isn't secured. It won't stay level for long.

Make sure you have a signalling device of some sort, like a whistle. It'll come in handy if you end up down current from the boat and you need to get picked up.

That reminds me... it's a good idea to begin your dive swimming against the current if possible, so you can drift back to the mooring at the end. It sure beats drifting first and working hard when you're low on air.
