As the title states, I am going into the tech world, My wallet happens to be along for the ride!

I am currently looking at three reg sets, the Hollis 212 with DC2 first stage, the Apeks xtx 200 and the Atomic B2.

These regs will serve on my doubles setup so hose routing and being environmentaly sealed is also something that I would like to condider.

I have heard alot of good things about each one the regs and talked to folks who have dove one of them.

Can any one give me an opinion that has dove two, or better yet, all three and can offer an opinion and explain why.

Thanks for all the help, Oh yeah, if you have a set and want to get rid of them, let me know as well.

Welcome to the dark side :)

By looking at the DC2 f/s from Hollis, it will posses similar hose routing characteristics of the FSR from Apeks, (ATX/XTX 200) - which are pretty good. While the Hollis DC3 or Apeks DS4 will be a better choice if you base it on the routing only, as they are more streamlined and easier to route. Another choice from Apeks would be their "tech ready" TEK3 regulators as they are designed to be mainly for doubles and have the ports lined up accordingly with a left and right post first stage directly out of the box.

In terms of breathing/performance - all of the above mentioned regs will be quite sufficient for your needs and you should not be able to feel the difference.

I own/dive ATX200s on my doubles, ATX100, Poseidon, and DiveRite regs on singles and stage bottles...besides very minor differences, they all deliver very nicely.

Sorry, cannot comment on the Atomics.

One main criteria should also be availibality of service/parts and a good tech that can tune them for you.

Thanks Tamas,

Which Dive Rites are you diving?

Thanks Tamas,

Which Dive Rites are you diving?

The older RG1205s set up as stage regs, I like the turret on them as it makes the house routing even easier when used on a stage bottle -very similar to a lot of other manufacturers out there - Salvo, Hollis,...etc - all made in the orient with different logos :D - but very fine non the less.

Some "routing pics" for the different first stages:

Thanks for the pics Tamas, Thats a huge help

I have XTX50/DS4s on my doubles and love them. Before that I used Sea Elite Tek-X's (identical reg to the new Salvos) and they were great. Given your location, you should give them a look. We have a Diver's Supply in Charlotte and they are very cheap for the quality of the reg you get. I'm always up at LNQ if you ever want to take a look at either set.

Ryan,

I buy all my stuff from Rob at DS. I talked to Dave about his Tech X's and he pushed the hollis's my direction. Im not sure if I can get the Tech X's from DS anymore. I was talking to the guys there and they werent sure they could get anymore from Macon.

I dive the quarry LKNQ on Thursday nights and Sundays at 2pm. If you see a white land rover with scuba plates im there.

Thanks for the help, I will def.. have a look if we are there at the same time.
