If you don't want to dive with me because of my Split/Jet Fins, Darkfin Gloves, or Jacket BC then why do I care? You're the one who is missing the experience of sharing a nice dive with a friendly guy who may not be in the top 1% skill-wise but has progressed quite well in the 10 months I have been diving.
Bob, I'm tired of telling you. Just interlace your fingers and you'll be in that top 1% in no time at all. ;) :D

I would hope any of us "Size divers up". I'm glad you explained it in more depth.

I give up, why do you care?

Sorry, I size divers up.

It starts as soon as I find out you're a diver. I listen, I watch, I check out your kit, I see who's listening to the briefing and who's wandering around aimlessly. If you aren't my student and there's nothing I see about you that strikes me as dangerous, I'll keep my observations to myself, but they're still there.

Nowhere did I say I wouldn't dive with you; that would take 3 strikes. ;)

The free trial of Darkfin gloves is over. I would like to thank everyone who participated and posted their views and opinions.

Things got a little out of hand on the other thread as there are always those who look for things to destroy, books to burn and ideas to squash. It was entertaining for a while but there are those of us that would really like to read the serious reviews of those that have acually tried Darkfins. Even those of you who already posted a review and would like to do it again that's great. Post as many comments about your experiences with the gloves as you like but lets try and keep this thread free from antagonistic comments that are not productive.

Thank you in advance for not disrupting this thread with the same non-sense.

Stay tuned, Im working on a video for UTube with divers and snorklers using Darfins. It will answer a lot of questions for many of you.

If you like Darkfins and would like purchase a pair shipping is still free for a time and we offer a 1 time exchange in case you order the wrong size. GRAND BABY NEEDS SHOES. Scuba Diving Gloves | Surfing Gloves | Skydiving Gloves | Underwater Gloves | Webbed Gloves

Roy, I want to sincerely thank you for generously offering your gloves to us to try. I also appreciate that you have had a good sense of humor throughout all of the naysaying by people in the other thread who did NOT try the gloves.

Here is my review! I'm going to be very honest in the plusses and minusses.

First, despite measuring my hand against the .pdf size chart at 100%, they are really, really tight. The next size up looked too big on the .pdf chart but I wish I'd gone up one size anyway. It's hard to get the first one on and REALLY difficult to don the second.

The first thing I noticed is that they made my hands really hot. I was diving Cay Sal Banks which is warm water anyway, but I really couldn't wait to get them off. I think that I would really APPRECIATE them in winter or springs diving. For warm water you may wish to consider a vented or perforated back something like what some bicycling or golfing gloves have.

So far as using them, I had to laugh at myself because I instinctively cup my hands when I want to make a quick turn without using fins, and of course these don't work when you cup your hands, you need to spread your fingers! Laughing at myself I "got it" and boy oh boy are they GREAT for a sudden turn you would need while taking pictures of an elusive sea critter. I was shooting videos and stills of sharks and rays that were circling me and it made "helicopter turns" effortless.

I normally don't use my hands when finning but I did try them and I think I was laying a wake, I was going so fast!

I showed them to everyone on the Nekton Pilot and they were intrigued. One diver works with an HSA instructor and is going to recommend that he stock up on them (I gave her your web URL). However, nobody wanted to try them...maybe because they are SO small that they really didn't fit anyone.

I won't use my pair again until the water is cooler, but I think I will give them another try, although they really are hard to put on and take off. Thanks again for letting us try these out and again, think about a vented/perforated back on them. Also, think about making the fingers a different color so that our buddies can see hand signals.

Why am I not surprised to see a Darkfin user kneeling on the bottom, banging the aquatic plants with his fin tips, dragging gear around, bicycle kicking like crazy, and generally huffing and puffing like a maniac?

At least you've finally answered the "Who is the target audience?" question once and for all.

So if I find one pic or vid of a BP/W user or SP JetFin user doing anything bad I can automatically assume that EVERY user of said equipment is a piss poor diver?

RJP, seriously I get it. You have zero use for the product, congrats... Now feel free to move along, seriously. I mean you've had your say and I'm not dismissing you out of hand, I've read and accepted your input but you aren't adding anything other than to your post count at this point.

I'm not a perfect diver but all of my gear is streamlined and I rarely touch bottom or bang on the plants. I don't bicycle kick or flail around either (okay that first dive in my Dry suit maybe but give me a break).

The guy in the vid is huffing an awful lot of gas. Looking at his trim and body control, this might be due to inexperience, but it might also be contributed to by the arm flailing.

I know arms are less efficient than legs for propulsion, so it seems logical that using both arms and legs for propulsion is going to have a negative impact on air consumption. Not a problem for swimmers, but less than ideal for divers.

I'd get another video.

I think he was just saying it may have been a poor choice of video to use to show off the product.

Sigh.. this thread has gotten ugly.
