Divin'Hoosier:
It all depends upon the wrecks you're going. Ber's been there bunches so you can trust her on the temps. I've never been to Toby so I'm speaking from experience during my other Great Lakes dives. As long as the wrecks you're doing are shallower than 70-80' or so, you'll probably find 50-60. Below that and I'd bet you'll see 40s. The three dives I did last weekend on Lake Huron out of Port Sanilac were 47 F at 77', 46 F at 85' and 51 F at 71'.

Straight from last year's log book - I dove the Niagara II September 2nd and bottom temp was 55F at 83 feet. I can only assume it's around that this year. We didn't do the Arabia so I don't have the temp for that one.

TG - I won't be able to make it on Friday, we have a club corn roast on Saturday that I totally forgot about, and people are coming on Friday to move heavy furniture to the new house!

That's downright toasty! I hope the group experiences such warm temps this year. Safe diving to all that are lucky enough to go. Enjoy!

My salsa is a maybe- only two of the tomatoes I had made "the cut." I'm really not that picky, but I taste before I slice and if I don't like the way they taste I don't even bother. I've made salsa with questionable tomatoes before and it doesn't work out well so I don't waste my efforts!

I got new tomatoes- if they taste good, I'll bring salsa (unless, of course, I forget to bring it!).

hey guys just wondering what the vis. and temps are like up there Im heading up tom. morning for advance open water training. I however have never been to gilboa cant wait.

:rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3: It wasn't a brick it was a concrete block:rofl3: :rofl3: Hoooo boy,:rofl3: I can't breathe :rofl3: :rofl3: Nothing like having your staff come back from setting up something your students are going to have to retrieve and the dive briefing goes like this:
Student: How'd it go?
Staff: It SUCKED! Good Luck!

:rofl3: :rofl3: I think I'm going to pee my pants :rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3:

Well, you got to admit, that dive WAS adventures in buoyancy control!

Okay, phew.

I know not to trust Notso_Ken when he says it's warm water :D but if he gives me actual numbers I can evaluate it for myself!

:D

Heeyyyyyy, I'm hurt! Remember, it was Barry that was wearing just the skin for the shallower dives! I at least had on a farmer john!

It's not surprising at all, but I think you've layed out an AWESOME plan for your team. I also really like the way you're all getting together to do a practice dive in preparation for Toby. Way to go!

Yes, Ber does a great job planning the dive, then diving the plan. Even if SOMEBODY (who shall remain nameless) goes and does something like have a freeflow. That possibility was covered in the plan, and the response was per the plan.

Ber even came up with a great idea for the newspaper headline for it: "Regulator freeflows at Gilboa - TWICE! Man survives." Of course, the part about surviving and nobody being hurt would have ended up on page 28 . . . .
