I guess that means I can't dive sidemount on/in the Oriskany in a couple of weeks??
You better watch out Rob the Sidemount police might not let you dive in OW!

Not yet. However I think your on to something. I think his tanks exploded on said dive and blew him out of the water and he landed in Mexico.

Or maybe he landed in Las Vegas?

We dove SM on the Oriskany with scooters and had a blast. SM makes a much more streamlined profile for scootering which is why I love it. It's fun playing dodge the barracuda while skimming the flight deck on an X scooter.

OMG, you scooter puppies are ruining my imagination of the big, tough cave men!!!
However, that leads to another question -- in what kind of environment would sidemount not be a good choice for a twin cylinder dive?
I don't see anything on that page that makes them the definitive source for defining the term. Most of the definitions I've seen revolve around divers with an unsafe mindset rather than "being 100% DIR."
Since you seem to have the definitions and history down pat, how about some qualifying background so we know why anyone here should listen to your sermon about it?
Note: you said "most"...i.e. not all...and the rest? How are they defining it?
Here we go...in politics you discredit someone by calling them racists, sexist, marxist, bigot, etc. In tech diving (acually only online on SB) it's done by implying that they are not experienced enough to have an opinion or by implying that their instructor was no good. What kind of dive resume does it take to hear a word, note how it was used, and realize that it is (still) hurting our community?
Just an FYI, if this guy were to turn up healthy and a liar in 30 years, most people would still trust him more than CDNN.....the enquirer of the scuba world. If it appears on their pages, they likely made it up.
