So, sorry to hear about this Paula.

Looks like a a lot of us are going to be patrolling web sales places looking out for your stuff.

I hope you have a better day!

Paula,
Sorry to hear about your gear, will print out your list and take it into a couple of the dive shops I use. We have had so little theft in the dive community, we tend to not worry. Thanks for sharing and remind us we now have to take extra care.

Hello Paula:

So sorry to have heard what had happened to you & your buddy. I hope they catch the one or ones' that did it. It's a sad day when one experience the lost of their dive gear.

I wish i could help in someway.

Agree, having all your gear stolen sucks.

A question - you both went across the street to change?

The parking lot for the boat ramp is across a two lane, fairly heavily travelled road. I carried the gear across when I went to use the outhouse. I decided it would be easier crossing the street in my drysuit without the weight of the tank, etc.

We walked back to the cars and changed into our drysuits in the parking lot. There were six of us and it's not that far.

It's always been a safe place to dive before. Another friend / buddy owns the DQ two doors down. No one saw anything. & were completely surprised as none of even considered something happening given the location.

Live & learn!

Paula

Thank you for all the responses, kind words and for keeping an eye out.

It took a bit of work but I did have all the serial numbers. Besides that, today was working with the sherriff, tracking down replacement gear and setting up favorite searches in EBAY. Tomorrow will be working with the insurance company, faxing a list to all the LDS and Play it Again Sports.

I still plan to dive on the Sanilac charter next weekend if any one planned to join us. My father and one sister are mailing their regs and gauges. I'll pick the best of their regs to match up with my pony reg. I have the BC I used for several years prior to buying the Transpac and wings. Still have two steel 95s & my better two dive lights. Probably a few knives in the basement as well. & a friend has a Cobra he isn't using any more. & several friends have offered to help set me up with extra gear as necessary.

Not all is lost, put what a PITA!!!!!!!!!

... in the meantime, at least you won't be completely drydocked (or whatever you wish to call it). Hopefully, I will see you next Sunday morning bright and early, then. Please, let me know if I can provide anything that you might come up short on seeing that I will be there anyways.

It is just wrong to steal to begin with. The person that took them probably has no idea what they took. I hope you get it back.

Down the road "someone" will be needing a hydro, it'd be a good idea to get the tank's serial numbers off to all the hydro joints, & be sure to tack a "reward" onto the list so folks will have a good reason to look harder.
Here's a list of all the hydro joints, along with addresses, phone number, etc.:

Don't forget the paintball joints.
