I think this is mostly for dealing with 3 or more tanks, yes?

Not in my area of interest right now - maybe in a few years time. I had it in my head that you should swap the position of two tanks around, but this has been cleared up.

Even with just 2 (if they are bigger 11L/Al80s) its nice to put a used one out of the way on your hip.

Question about switching to BG for your gas switches. What is the reasoning behind this? To make dealing with bottles cleaner or as an air break???

Thanks
JT

Short answer is yes.

You will be switching from your deco gas at the point where the PPO2 is now not providing much benefit. You will also just have been breathing high PP02s for a while. You will give your lungs an 02 break with a back gas switch. We also have a standard protocol for gas switches that once learned and practised stays the same. It is built from previous skills (clipping and unclipping long hose on right chest d-ring as per valve drill, etc) and requires a series of steps where your gas switch is identical each time. (muscle memory, etc.) This requires a deco gas switch be done from back gas. Hence..................
