Does that mean we will get to do the full itinerary, including Wolf and Darwin, Baitball?

I do not know any of the details all I know is I have been told that the GNP director has decided to allow diving while they put new practices and permits into place which will come into force in the new year.

Whether or not this means that we will be able to go to Wolf & Darwin I have no idea. I am looking at it as probably a no and if we are allowed it will be a huge massive bonus. I have been told it will go ahead as scheduled. Does this means Wolf & Darwin who knows? I will not believe I am going to get to dive or even go until I actually hit the water!

The latest news from Explorer Ventures is a revised itinerary that does not include Wolf and Darwin. The website advises that this itinerary is in effect until further notice. http://explorerventures.com/pdf/itinerary7.24.07.pdf

Even though my trip is not until June 08, I sent an email to all of the places EnronX identified in a previous post and have not received any replies. For now we are waiting it out, but not holding our breath that Wolf and Darwin will be added back in. As explained to me, it's all about fishing and starving Ecuadorian families competing with the dive boats.

Those might really be awesome news, but where did this "have been told" come from? Just so I can measure my hope...

15 days and counting

Okay,

My local dive shop that I booked my trip trough spoke to the tour booking agency today. They informed him the meeting did take place, and he expects Deep Blue to resume diving operations next Monday, August 6th. My local dive shop said, "It looks like our trip in September is a go." I asked if the itinerary would include Wolf and Darwin. The response was "Of course. There would be no sense in going if Wolf and Darwin were not on the itinerary."

I feel good about this, but I am hoping someone with a trip booked next week or the week after can confirm this information.

The quote below is on another forum and it seems to answer most of the questions that we are currently worring about. It also confirms the information I have been told. I am due to go very soon and I am 90% sure I will get to go but not to Wolf & Darwin. The whole reason i wanted to go to Galapagos was to go there so I am very unhappy about it but I am not sure there is anything that can be done in the short term.

I hope that they get it organized quickly so that the rest of you who are booked later in the year get to go before the longliners get there. Now they can sell the fins legally fairly soon I would guess there will be nothing too see except a lot of rocks!

Quote:

"The info that i have from my tour operator is that ALL boats can operate in Galapagos for the time being, BUT only the Agressors and Sky Dancer can go to Wolf and Darwin.
They are the only boats with full approved licenses.
This matches with most of the info I have been able to find on the web.

The last update I have is:
"On the back of a meeting that was held in Ecuador yesterday (30/7/7), between all affected parties, there will be a further meeting held between lawyers, the Galapagos N.P. authorities the Ecuadorian Ministry of tourism on Thursday morning (Ecuador time)."

well, the so called good news are far from here. My trip was supposed to begin next 16th, but was officially canceled. Full refund from the boat, almost certain full refund from hotel on the way and some refund from Avianca airline, within 60days, except for cancelation fees. As for AirGal (local airline) who knows... as uncertain as eCUatorian government!

Wish u luck! (at least some definition for me! Trying to keep up with the bright side)
