I was backpacking in Guatemala and Honduras, making my way to Utila. Got a nice cigar which fit perfectly into my snorkel and was saving it for an upcoming wedding back in Guate. Fast forward to my first dive on Utila. I was very eager to get in the water and at that point was still lugging that snorkel around, not realizing how unnecessary it was for simple dives. So I was waiting for the rest of the group, popped in the snorkel to look around and it didn't work. oh ya. great stash spot. it didn't break in my pack, but was rendered useless after a dose of salt water. funny part was how long it took me to realize why my snorkel (a very complicated piece of equipment!) wasn't working. no fancy purge valve involved or anything.
