The funniest thing I ever saw on Scuba was when we introduced a friend to bugging. When we found out that he was a virgin bugger, I told him that he had to eat his first lobster wherever he caught it. "Underwater?" "Well, of course!" He didn't believe us until he went to the captain and asked him point blank. The Captain's response was epic!
On the first dive of the day, our buddy avoided lobsters like the plague. However, I got enough for me on the first dive, so I "helped" him out on the second. Within a minute or two of getting to the bottom, I found a bug for him to catch. The entire group saw him going for it and were all in a circle around him when he finally came out victorious. We started pointing to the lobster and then to our mouths. He shook his head and resolutely cracked the lobster open.
It was this point the entire reef descended on this poor unsuspecting diver. Trigger fish, damsels, grouper and even a moray joined in. He was swatting at them with the lobster which made it all the funnier. Finally, he threw the lobster halves to the wolves and got the hell out of there.
I laughed so hard that I lost my reg. It was truly, truly epic. On the boat we were laughing and giving him a hard time when the Captain came up. "You tried to EAT the lobster down below?" "Well, yes sir, I did." "Well, I'll have to report you to Fish and Game for a BIG violation." That just made it even funnier.
