I've read black silicon is preferred over clear for tunnel vision and to limit distractions. Are there reasons why you choose one mask type over the others for underwater photography?

Not all frameless masks are black, they come in the clear as well. Most frameless types fit very close to the face which is a good thing for photography.

I use a Scubapro Frameless and have for years. I think the black is critical for reducing stray light into your field of view. I use a 45 degree viewfinder in my Aquatica housing as well, which is really helpful...

Of course the main thing is that your mask fit properly. Fighting a foggy, leaky mask isn't going to help your shooting at all! ;-)
