Its nice to meet a fellow Tampan. (Waits for the snickers from the non-Floridians to die down.) There is a store in South Tampa called Adventure Outfitters that sets up dive trips throughout the spring, summer and fall. We usually dive the Gulf because its closest and while it is a far cry from the Carribbean, there is a lot to see and its a great group of people to dive with. We will be going to the Keys near the end of March. Completely unrelated to diving, we also get together about four times a year for Carnivore Night at Charley's Steakhouse for fun nights of artery clogging, beer swilling male bonding. You can find the shop by going to www.adventuretampa.com.

My real name is Roger, BTW. I hope to see you in the Gulf.

Hello all. I'm new to ScubaBoard but love to dive. I learned a few years back from a great former SEAL who taught me. Right now, I have been out of action (military conflicts only) for several months. But I'm planning to get in the water locally or down in the FL Keys soon.
Anyone recommendations for the Tampa area?

Looking forward to diving off HI - missed it last year due to PRK surgery.
Cowabunga dudes and lucky dives!

Robert

Tampa, hmmm I've been there. Oh, I am there/here. Hi and welcome. Who is your lds?

Welcome from te opposite coast

Rob,
Welcome, there is plenty of diving on the west coast. Gulf and fresh water. We've got wrecks, army tanks, springs..... just hook up with a few divers from the board, or a local shop. dive store charters are nice, but IMO they are expensive, so learn where the spots are and find some one with a boat (Like Me), and enjoy

Robert- Welcome to Scubaboard and the wonderful world of diving.

Before you plan a trip and arrange all the details... Do you have a certification card? Most dive ops will require one.

Tampa diving is great.. cold, low vis and silty bottoms.. yea!

Plan a keys trip or at least a trip to the East coast. Although I would like to dive the tanks someday.. when it is at least 75 over there.
