Hey all,

I'm looking for advice on a good LDS for my GF to take the open water course at somewhere near where we live in Pasadena CA. The key here is flexibility. She has a really irradic work schedule right now. I did mine at Sports Chalet (and my AOW) out in Arizona before moving here in March. I was satisfied with them but think there are probably better options to get it done quicker/work with her schedule better.

Advice welcome! TIA

Try Ocean Safari in San Gabriel. They do their pool session in East LA college. Very nice huge indoor pool. They're not as cheap as Chalet but trust me, it's worth it.

I didn't do my OW with them, but I did my Rescue class with them and I saw how they teach their OW class.

Try Dolpin Dive center in Arcadia. Tim Omeara is the owner and one of the instructors. They can usually be very flexible with the schedule, as they typically have students at various stages of instruction at any given time. 626-447-5536.

Hello FoxTrot,
I would suggest Pura Vida Divers in Downey. They're not exactly around the corner from you, but George is flexible to a fault, and one of the most upstanding people I know. He will certainly work around your aavilability. The phone # there is 562-927-4007.
Good luck, and happy diving.

Agree with Kalani, Independent instructors are much more flexible and customer oriented.

Also, I would suggest that you go with an independent instructor that has a wealth of experience.

I will PM you!

If you send an email to info@scuba.com and let them know you need an instructor in the LA area, they will have one of our instructors contact you. Custom schedules are no problem.

Thanks to all of you for the input and suggestions. We'll probably check into all these options in the next couple days and try to determine which will work out best.

Thanks again!

I have met a few of the instructors that work with scuba.com and they are great gents. I would recommend them for sure!
