MORE. BOMBS. DISCOVERED.

Avenida 35

That doesn't look like much of a bomb. I'm no expert, but I don't see wires, and the twist tie top looks not too water proof. It looks more like a ruse.

Yeh - this is a big chisme - there are so many things that show his was just a scare tactic for Perla from a group against her - but "technique" and other signs are that this was not actually narcos - but an attempt to make it look like narcos - but very poor copycatting technique

I have seen a few narcomantas in the news from time to time and I usually recognize the name of the cartel/gang. I have not heard of the Punbas so I googled it to see if they are legit and if they have any "street cred". They are completely unknown in Quintana Roo according to one source.
I don't want to post something "political" so here is a link you can see for yourself.

LMGTFY

Seems like multiple news sources have confirmed the existence of the "manta or blanket".
Some are attributing the explosion to the group, but I think Christi is correct and someone is using the explosion to leverage their own goals.

the bomb shown in the latest picture looks almost identical to the device that was discovered floating on the 19th and taken to the marina and left on the boat ramp and subsequently detonated by the Marines. Right down to the duct tape on the end cap. On the boat ramp device there was an antenna sticking out on the end opposite the duct tape. Which at the time made me think it was some type of floating instrument.

Today, I went to Playa with my dive buds for a cenote dive.
Only two lines currently running, Ultramar and Mexico waterjets.
Price is normal, no promo prices. 167 one way 300 rt.
We used MW on the way to Playa and Ultramar on the way back.
While we exited the pier we noticed a diver kitted up and ready to splash at the bow of a Mexico Waterjet ferry.
There was a rep who was quick to let us know that it was for security and to maintain safety.
I noticed no such diver at the Ultra ferry.
I will use the ultra ferry if the need arises anytime soon.

See other thread.
Explosive not found on occupied ferry.

I asked Christi if she had a newspaper she thought was trustworthy, and that seems to be the only post that has been deleted. I didn't realize that was political and actually thought it was kind of on topic since I'm only asking so I can get better, more reliable information about this topic.

Didn't even see your post - NO newspaper is reliable here - NONE - no journalistic integrity whatsoever - the reporters literally write whatever they want

Please don't count on me monitoring threads - about all I have energy for is managing my shoulder recovery and taking care of my own divers right now - I'll check in WHEN I can - but if I don't answer it's because I don't live on Scubaboard and have more pressing things to manage right now :)

Totally understand. Thanks for being our eyes and ears on the island, and good luck with your recovery.
