favorite: Force Fins

least favorite: I finally tossed my clunky old Rockets - although I had many a good dive with them before fin technology evolved.

I haven't yet tried a fin I can honestly say that I hate ...
I dunno, dove once with Scuba Pro Twin Jets.....like having cooked noodles on my feet. No control and no power, while being huge. Glad it was just a shop demo day.
Hollis F1 - Ah ... I can best describe this fin as "love at first dive".
How are they for weight? Described as made of rubber, as are the Jets. Heavy fins and my (wetsuit) trim do not get along. As i mentioned, I found Jets way too heavy.

The Hollis fins are every bit as heavy as Jets.

If you like Jets, but don't like the weight, try the OMS Slipstreams. Pretty much exactly the same fin, but made from a lighterweight material ... and as previously indicated, just slightly stiffer than Jets.

I ... I still haven't figured out how to carry the darn things to the water when my hands are full with camera, deco bottle, and/or scooter.

I've been known to route the scooter nose clip through the fin straps and clip it back to the tow ring. It's inelegantly floppy, but frees a hand in a pinch.

Rainer made what amounts to a long leash to clip his fins to a shoulder d-ring during surf entries (ie trigger through the surf zone and fin up afterwards).

Defenately my Original JetFins. :)
Already over 30 years old, and had to change back-strap 1st time
2 years ago.
They are extremely powerful when facing any current or in need to pursuit.
Altough not optimal for continuous kicking due to heavy weight. But then
again, the weight gives optimal vertical boyancy on strong wall drift dives.

I have yet to find fault with my Mares Avanti Quatros. My buddy has a pair also, and on a liveaboard once, the captain made a comment that we were the only ones on the boat whose fins had street cred, or something to that effect.

Years ago, before i learned to dive, I used a pair of Jets barefoot in a pool. While it wasn't THAT bad, I can definitely say they weren't designed for that, lol.

My ankle does not extend like it should so I'm prone to foot pain. My favorite is Force Fin Pro which is what I dive. The only caveat is, recently their price seems to have soared for some reason.

I've also had good results when trying a friend's Atomic splits, but I could not tolerate Apollo Biofins.

I really like my Aeries Velocity x3 fins. They are very flexible in the middle, making them easy to kick with like the split fins when I am just moving casually along. But they are a blade fin, and when I kick hard for say a current or to catch up with someone, they seem to flare out and give me a lot of power like a full blade. Like a hybrid of sorts. I really enjoy having the power available, while being very easy to kick with. I know that I barely have to move my feet to glide along. If I make any sort of real kick, I pass everyone right away. They also are heavy fins so I don't get floaty feet. I use the version with the spring straps. The foot pockets are just right for my feet. Not tight, but I don't move around in them either.

I have not tried many other fins. I did try twin jets once. And not to start a debate, but it wasn't for me. They were easy to kick with like mine, but when I kicked hard, it didn't feel like I had as much power. I had to kick twice as much to go as fast.

Slipstreams, or Dive Rites. Both are light, but stiff enough to easily back up, do helicopter turns, etc. The Dive Rites are a little longer, and come in a greater size range.
