I honestly have no idea who does the hydro for the shops that I use. I do know that they are busy shops that have a continuous stream of galvanized steel scuba tanks being hydroed. That makes me comfortable using them and so far I've had no issues. I use either Force-E (Boca Raton or Riviera Beach) or Scuba Adventures (Naples). I've not had issues with either shop.

I can't say that my local hydro place did or didn't do the correct procedure, but with the amount of tanks that the LDS say "fail" and the fact that they don't have a lot of volume like FL does, I'm assuming they didn't do it 100% correct.

I will without a doubt be much more into who does the test and how next time. It's my fault for assuming that the place everyone uses knows what to do. And maybe they do... and I just got a bad tank. I should know more tomorrow.

if you don't want to try a fire extinguisher place again, brass anchor in frederick and lynnhaven dive in virginia beach are hydro testers and dive shops.

So they do in house testing? I've talked to brass anchor before, but never about hydro. If Juturna Springs opens up (ever) then at least I can get a dive in while I'm out that way.

Brass Anchor is 1.25 hours from my house. Fine by me as long as they know what they're doing.

A bit late this time but I always tape a copy of the PST bulletin to my PST cylinders when I send them for hydro.

I had read that after dropping them off. In all honesty I figured the local hydro place that does a lot of the LDS would know what the hell they were doing. And maybe they did, Idk. I'll know more tomorrow.

Great idea to tape the bulletin on there... sure couldn't have hurt.

You can look up who did the hydro by the stamp on the tank.... that code between the month and year is the specific tester's identification...

I'm not sure I follow what good that would do?

Isn't that the facilities identification rather than the individual or do most facilities only have one licensed person.
