I'm deciding between two tanks that my LDS carry.

A Faber 98LP or a PST HP100. The shop recommanded the Faber ones because they are easier to fill and also alittle bit cheaper. Should I go with the Fabers?

if you don't mind the bigger tank then both will be fine, LP or HP has been trashed out on the board numerous times, there are advocates of both.

if you plan on using the tank on a boat a lot then LP might be a good idea, but i know my LDS will fill to 3500 no problem

Ask if they have some in rental or someone you can borrow them from. Everyone on here will tell your feelings and opinions and they are all good and valid. However, the best is to make your own opinion. Take them both out and go diving.

Also, consider what kind of diving you will be doing. How much gas you will need and where you want to go with your diving. The last thing you want to do is buy your tanks then find out later that they are too big or too small for what you want to do.

Good luck and take care!
Ben

I haven't used Faber 98's, but PST 100's are great singles tanks. The PST tanks have a hot-dipped galvanized finish which is tougher than the Faber's painted finish.

yeah, now if my LSD would just get the e7-100 i ordered i'd be happy!!

What dive shop is selling HP100's I'll buy one too.........

On thing I can say is that the fabers are lighter both in the water and out of the water. It saves your back but you end up needing some lead to offset them in the water. Just do not rush and buy something and then regret it later.

A Faber 95 is lighter than an HP100? The charts I see put the PST HP100 around 34lbs empty with the Faber 95 around 39 lbs empty, with the PST being about half a pound more negative.

Thank you for correcting me on that. I am sorry about my mistake. I did not lookup the hp100 before posting.

HP100 or E7-100? I think the older tanks are slightly different, no?

BTW, I got a pair of E7-100's today! Yipee. The shipment that PST has been promising is starting to trickle in. I did get the last two and have had my name on the waiting list for about a month though.
