The E7's seem to be a pound or two lighter than the old HP's.

mweitz:HP100 or E7-100? I think the older tanks are slightly different, no?
BTW, I got a pair of E7-100's today! Yipee. The shipment that PST has been promising is starting to trickle in. I did get the last two and have had my name on the waiting list for about a month though.
mweitz:Mossym,
I got mine at Dolphin Scuba in Sacramento. From my understanding DD is also expecting some from the same run, as is Manta. Hopefully today or tomorrow!

Exemption? Can you elaborate?DA Aquamaster:E7-100's are super tanks as you are essentially getting 100 cu ft for less bulk and only a couple more pounds than an AL 80. The downside is the exemption itself which could leave you stuck with an expensive wind chime if PST ever goes under or decides not to renew the exemption. But...if they were readily available I'd still buy several.
jonnythan:The weird numbers stamped into the side of the tank are the DOT exemption number. I'm not entirely sure, what I'm talking about, so someone else will elaborate (or correct me), but here is how I understand it: a tank manufacturer has to get the tank approved by the DOT, which then grants an exemption number for the use of that tank. The exemption must be renewed periodically, presumably to ensure that inferior or dangerous designs can be weeded out and that there is current data on the tanks (or something).
If the company does not renew the exemption, and the exemption expires, the tanks are no longer DOT approved and cannot be filled/hydro tested/used.
