I am soon to be leaving on a diving expedition to the tropics. I know these drugs are not specific to diving but seem to be English or European names which I've not been able to cross to their American equivelent names. I've been told that I'm required to have these for the expedition.

1. Proclorperzine or metaclopramide - for vomiting.
2. Dioralyte - Dehydration.
3. Paracetomol - pain killer

My pharmicist might help but I will not have that option until Wed.

Hope this helps. You may have misspelled some names....

1. Proclorperzine - From: http://www.prochlorperazine.com/ Brand name Compazine

or metaclopramide - for vomiting. http://www.medicinenet.com/metoclopramide/article.htm Brand name Reglan

2. Dioralyte - Dehydration. http://www.gpnotebook.co.uk/cache/-395640765.htm all the sources seem to be from the UK - may not be available in the US?

3. Paracetomol - pain killer http://www.assistpainrelief.com/info/paracetamol/ acetaminophen - Popular over the counter med.

Compazine and Reglan are popular antiemetics. Both require a prescription in the US, so you'll have to get your doctor to write a script for one of them. Be advised, both can have sedative effects, but if you're vomiting, that can be a good thing.

I've never heard of dioralyte, but based on the website Don provided, I'd call it Gatorade.

Paracetomol/acetaminophen is best known as Tylenol.

4-1/2 year old post. Hope he survived...
