I like the idea of moving it to the forearm and plugging the original hole permanently.

I had 5thD move my dump valve to the forearm on my drysuit last week, while they had it to install bellows pockets. I have to say that for me the forearm dump position is far better than the upper arm position the valve was at before. The guy I was diving with on Saturday even commented how it seemed much easier to dump air and he was thinking about moving his valve too. :)

How does the repair to the old position look? Roughly what did they charge?
They charged me ~$50 to move the dump valve. As far as the old position, I had them put a 5thD patch over the actual drysuit repair. You have to look pretty hard to see there used to be anything other than that 5thD patch there.

Between the 5thD bellows pocket and that patch, I'm a swimming 5thD billboard...

Enquiring minds want to know!
I only asked for two... and lal did give us two... but I though perhaps someone else would come forth with another couple.

Let me ask a question or two to help you in coming up with a couple of reasons yourself.

Can you reach your ankles with ease?
How do you handle a wing failure?

Wing failure would be a biggie... you've just eliminated your redundant buoyancy hey.

Why the need to reach the ankles? I'm assuming we're talking about an automatic dump like a cuff dump (which I don't have and have never used though), rather than an adjustable dump like a shoulder dump.

The only thing I could think of would be they would be a nice spot for kelp to catch around (it's amazing what that stuff will hook up on).

I just shipped my drysuit to www.drysuitrepair.com to have a leak fixed at my left foot.Since it was going in for repair i am having them move the exhaust valve to the forearm, add a set of suspenders, and add stitching to my bellow pockets. My pockets are holding up great but since i was already sending it in i might as well have them add some stitching to prevent any future problems of them peeling off. I'll let everyone know how it turns out. Now i just need to find a nifty looking patch to cover where the exhuast valve used to be. Anyone know of any good patches.I was thinking of trying to find one like "scubadivers go deeper" or "fishermen have stiffer rods" ...lol.:D But if anyone see's a cool patch let me know. Thanks!!

Do you charge for advertising? Sounds like you should get some free stuff from 5thD ;-)

Yea that would be a biggie right there. So im guessing ankle valves are not cool....hehe :D Assuming you could reach your ankles you could always pull the duct tape out of your bellow pockets and seal them(ankle valves) up underwater.I bet MacGyver could do it so im thinking i could do it too. :D
