Essentials is fundies light, correct? What kind of time and money commitment are we talking about?

Brian W. wrote a good explanation of the Essentials course - Misconceptions of UTD Essentials and Intro-to-Tech. That should give you more insight on the course.

As for time commitment, it's 3 full days (approx. 12-14 hours per day) plus an evening pool session (approx. 4 hours).

Costs are as follows:
Instructor fee - $450
Registration/Class materials - $99
Pool fee - $25

Since I'm local to MoCal, there's no travel costs to cover.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Good luck with your class and I look forward to hear about your experience. I also want to take this class eventually ... when I can afford to replace my current equipment with an hogarthian rig...

As Kathydee wrote, there's no need to replace your existing configuration with a hogarthian rig. While we do discuss gear in the course, Essentials is primarily a skills course.

That's good to hear.

There is someone else who was interested, and I'll follow-up with him. Let me know what weekend you're thinking.

At least in March/April, the diving conditions should be nicer than what we've seen this winter.

NP251,

I don't know if Don is thinking about the guy I know, but If not, I have a friend that if very much interested in UTD Essentials class.

He is currently in Thailand and returns on the 15th of this month. I will talk to him because he told me he wanted to do Essentials in either March/April.

Will keep you and Don posted.

That would make another team for Monterey, awesome... :D

Different person. However, a 3 person team for class is the ideal setting.

I wish I was in Thailand right now...

And you know I'm still interested, right? March/April is about my timeframe too.

Awesome, that sounds like 3 or 4 are interested. I need to leave it until tuesday/wednesday next week before i can clear the schedule and come up with a suitable weekend, but id like to do it sometime over the last 2 weekends of March.

Cheers

Right now, that looks like it could work. First weekend of April, too. Ill need to verify next week though.
