The Red Sea in Egypt is the safest place on earth to dive right now, that's very very far from all the Mess
Based on what? How can you say it’s the safest place to dive on earth right now? I’m not saying it’s unsafe but there are many other fantastic places to dive in the world that are extremely safe and much farther away from conflict zones.

It is the liveaboard sinking capital of the world in recent years - I’ll give you that…😃

Hi, I am a French diver with over 20 stays and liveaboard in Egypt for diving.

One of the reason why it is safe, is that the regime desperatly need the money of tourism industry, which represents 12% of the egyptian GDP, and the Army secures the area from Hurghada to Marsa Alam ont the Western coast and around Sharm El Sheikh in the Sinai.

Yes there is war 400 km ahead, and yes you are in a secured "golden ghetto"... Everybody has to deal with this, or not.

and there's so much other stuff too see

Fully agree with this. Sharm el Sheikh has a bordering wall all around and the checks to get in/out are very thorough. Egypt has very high interest in spending a lot in security to keep tourists coming. However, this summer I have seen the lowest amount of people staying in Sharm in over a decade.

I went to Egypt about a year ago. I flew into Cairo, and went to Giza, Luxor, Alexandria, Abu Simbel, and camped in the Sahara desert. I then went to Dahab. In Cairo and Giza, my luggage went thru scanners, as did my daily pack, and there was security. There was an armed guard on the van to Dahab and multiple stops, and the trip took 12 hours from Giza to Cairo. On the way back to Cairo, I hired a driver and it took 7 hours. I never felt unsafe, and I'd go back any day.
