Hey All,

Can anyone chime in on how well Edge regulators breathe/perform? Any firsthand experiences in Comparing them to other mid/high end brands/models? (ie Aqualung Titan?Legend? etc?)

Been having "issues" with Aqualung's service agreements, shopping around for a reg for the gf....was thinking there would be less fuss and stress in the long run in just getting a regulator where I could get the parts myself and take it to get serviced where ever I choose?

Thanks,

Bob

I've got a HOG 2nd stage connected to my SP MK25, using it as an octo. The 2nd stage breaths very well. So well that I feel guilty sometimes for not using it more, so I'll switch over to it in the middle of a dive. Comparing it to my SP G250HP primary, I can tell no difference in quality of air delivery. I can't speak for the HOG D1 first stage, but I have read only positive things about it and would expect it to be as good as their second in quality.

Chris has a very fine regulator line, both Edge and HOG, they compare very favorably to many other regs. The price point is a great value.

I have switched from my Titan and from my ScubaPro MK25/S600s to an Edge regulator (the diaphragm one) at 100 feet, and I could tell no difference at all in effort or resistance. I haven't had them deeper, but I know people who have, and are quite satisfied with them.

Aqualung/Apeks and Edge/HOG must compare favorably.
The HOG looks exactly like an Apeks ATX 50.

I want one too; just don't need another regulator. But if I did, I'd get the Edge Epic for sure. Especially if the price is still where it was at the beggining of the year. I think Divesports and Diverite in Scuba both sell the parts kit. I say get it for her and tell us all how much you like it.

I have the HOG DI cold water 1st stage and HOG 2nd stage.
I can only compare it to a few rentals including Aqualung Titan which is a good reg, sherwood brut, and a scubapro basic model, and a few others like dacor, cressi, and "conquistador" or something like that.
The HOG breathes easy even at depth and when the tank is low on gas, (maybe not a good thing). I really like the adjustments and it can be taken apart very easily for inspection and cleaning. Plus the price was great.

Thanks All!

I may get the Epic, and pass my Legend to the gf ;-)

The lack of detailed info on Edge's own site has me a bit perplexed though...how many HP and LP ports does the Epic have? I assume its not environmentally sealed?

Can you easily change Hogs din connections to yoke?

//nevermind on the ports question...
found from divesports.com that the epic has 4 lp and 2 hp

I think the new first stage has 5 LP & 2 HP. Mine is a swivel turret with the 5/2 set up.
Changing the HOG DIN to yoke require a DIN to Yoke adaptor. I got mine free at DRIS, another story there. Tried it out and it works fine, but I like using DIN so much that probably only switch if I absolutely must.
Good luck, you or your GF will enjoy these Regs.
